Jena Malone, the actress best known for playing Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games franchise, has posed nude in a bathtub for Partlow, a company co-founded by celebrity stylist Lawren Sample.
The 41-year-old appears in the first episode of Muse, a new interview series Partlow is launching on its website and social media in which Sample sits down with celebrities and influencers.
Malone began her career as a child actress in the mid-1990s, landing roles in Contact, Stepmom and the cult classic Donnie Darko. She later worked with director Zack Snyder on the fantasy action film Sucker Punch and on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, part of the DC Extended Universe. Her most recent major role was in Kevin Costner's Western epic Horizon: An American Saga.
A major career shift
In her conversation with Sample, Malone revealed she is planning a significant change of direction and going back to school to study psychology.
"I'm gonna be a family therapist. I want to work with kids," she said.
She also said she hopes to eventually create programming for teenagers that combines somatic, or embodiment, work with talk therapy. Malone said she believes "how hard it is to be young" is a major issue right now.
Wedding planned for November
Malone also confirmed during the interview that she will marry her fiancé, Jack Buckley, in November. She first revealed the engagement in February, after Buckley proposed.
At the time, the couple shared a joint Instagram post with photos taken after they hiked to the top of a mountain, where Buckley popped the question with a scenic view behind them.
"It was always you," Malone wrote in a lengthy, poetic caption about their connection, alongside photos from their romantic countryside getaway. "Even in those long, dark spaces of my youth Where I learned to hold my own heart You were always there Breathing life into these tiny glimmers of a child's heart….Love….. Soulmate……Marriage."
"You are a dream come true Jack," she continued, adding that her "soulmate asked me to marry him."
Malone, who opened up about coming out as pansexual in 2022, also shared how Buckley asked for approval from each of her family members before he proposed.
"First, he asked those who have protected and cared for my heart for so long," she wrote. "Both of my Moms, my Sister, my Son … and with every lifetime, every moment I have in front of me I said yes. @jacktbuckley I love you forever!!!"
The couple's carousel post also included photos of them at the top of the lookout point and celebrating with champagne after their hike.
Her Hunger Games role
Malone is best known for starring alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games series, based on Suzanne Collins' bestselling novels. She played the fiery, red-headed Johanna Mason from District 7 in Catching Fire, released in 2013, and in both parts of Mockingjay, which followed in 2014 and 2015.
Buckley's own acting career
Buckley is also an actor and has appeared in episodes of The Dropout and The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Malone is mother to nine-year-old son Ode Mountain with her ex, Ethan DeLorenzo. She and Buckley keep a relatively low-key profile, and it is not publicly known when they met or how long they have been together.
A troubled start
Malone had a difficult early career. At 15, she won emancipation from her mother after claiming that the money she had earned from acting had been mismanaged.
