Peruvian footballer Jean Deza is at the center of a new controversy after being filmed in a street brawl on the afternoon of Friday, July 31, in San Miguel, according to witnesses cited by the outlet Prensa Chalaca.
Witnesses told the outlet that the incident began when several people greeted the former Peru national team forward and he responded with insults. That reaction triggered a verbal exchange that escalated into a physical fight.
Footage circulated on social media shows Deza in the middle of the altercation, surrounded by onlookers. According to the report, after initially leaving the scene, Deza warned that he would return with more people, which neighbors say happened minutes later.
Deza, 30, has not issued any statement about the incident.
A Career Marked by Off-Field Incidents
This is not the first time Deza has faced scrutiny outside the pitch. He has previously been the subject of an official investigation for alleged attempted femicide and multiple accusations of aggression from former partners, including Jossmery Toledo and Shirley Arica. Arica said the two did not exchange blows or insults but that a struggle left her with a head injury. His club career has also been marked by disciplinary sanctions.
