Teacher Hannah Jorgensen and 10-year-old pupil Ahmed Osman have drowned under mysterious circumstances in the Coralville Reservoir in Iowa during an outdoor lesson.
Emergency responders pulled 24-year-old Jorgensen from the water about an hour after receiving reports of people drowning, but rescuers were unable to save her life. Osman was reported missing in the water at the same time, triggering an extensive search that ended when his body was recovered the next day.
Jorgensen had taken her class to conduct an outdoor lesson in a recreational park at Lake Macbride when the emergency occurred. Sheriff's office deputies received an urgent call around noon stating that two individuals were drowning in the nearby reservoir.
