Polling firm IDICE confirmed that a fake survey circulating on Facebook regarding voting intentions for the regional governor of Pasco does not belong to the company. The fabricated material was presented as if published by the newspaper La República in the context of the campaign for the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections.
According to the circulating graphic, Lucio Rojas of Partido Frente de la Esperanza 2021 led voter preferences with 33 percent. Miguel Quispe of Alianza Regional por el Perú followed in second place with 22 percent, while Luis Pomachagua of Podemos Perú registered 15 percent. The remaining candidates in the poll did not exceed 6 percent of voting intention.

Although the image featured a technical data sheet, which is a mandatory requirement under Article 22 of the Regulations on Electoral Surveys during Electoral Processes, the sheet was incomplete. This flaw was accompanied by several other inconsistencies that questioned the authenticity of the post.

Unverified Facebook Distribution
The false survey was distributed exclusively by Facebook pages operating under the names Encuestadora Selva Central and Elecciones 2026. Neither page showed any connection to IDICE or La República. A search of official social media channels and websites belonging to IDICE and La República yielded no records backing the existence of the survey.

Spelling Errors and Subjective Commentary
The poll design also exhibited clear errors in the spelling of candidate names. While most candidates were identified by their first and last names, Lucio Rojas appeared as Lucio Paco Rojas with a nickname included. In addition, candidate Jhonny Inga was written as Jhony Inga without the second letter n.

Further irregularities included phrases displaying subjective value judgments, which are incompatible with an objective voting intention poll. The graphic asserted that the undecided factor, noted as NS/No sabe, would be crucial in the final stretch of the campaign. It also stated that Miguel Quispe occupied second place, showing important support.

Following these irregularities, Verificador de La República contacted IDICE directly to inquire about the authenticity of the material. The polling company confirmed that it did not create or distribute the image, reiterating that the poll is entirely fake.
