Global fitness series HYROX will make its debut in Greece on September 5 and 6, 2026, hosting an international competition at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens alongside official partner PUMA.
The two-day event brings the international fitness racing format to Greek soil for the first time, combining endurance running with functional workout challenges in a single competitive structure.
Organisers are transforming the venue into a central gathering point for competitive athletes, fitness enthusiasts and spectators, creating a weekend program centered on physical endurance, high intensity performance and interactive challenges.
HYROX was founded in Germany in 2017 as a standardized indoor fitness racing series. The global competition format alternates one-kilometer running segments with functional workout stations, allowing both professional athletes and everyday gym goers to test their physical limits on a uniform course.
Interactive footwear testing at the PUMA booth
German sportswear brand PUMA is serving as the global partner for the HYROX series, using the Athens event to strengthen its position in performance running and hybrid fitness. Headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, PUMA is one of the world's largest athletic apparel and footwear manufacturers.
Inside the exhibition center, PUMA will host a brand booth showcasing its latest HYROX footwear collection. Participants and visitors will be able to try out the new shoe designs on a specially constructed treadmill testing setup.
Product experts will be stationed at the testing zone to guide visitors through the footwear models. The specialists will explain the specific performance features, design specifications and underlying technologies incorporated into the new line.
The PUMA booth will also provide pre-race preparation services to help competitors build their race day look. Offerings include an athletic hair styling station featuring PUMA x HYROX branded braids, alongside a temporary tattoo station designed to enhance the competitive atmosphere.
In addition to race preparation services, visitors to the booth can access a live T-shirt personalization station. The setup allows attendees to design and customize their own official PUMA x HYROX branded merchandise shirts during the two-day event.
Fan cheering zone and European expansion
Spectators, family members and friends attending the event will have access to a dedicated PUMA Cheering Zone. The area allows supporters to craft custom encouragement signs and direct their energy onto the main competition floor to motivate athletes throughout their races.
The venue for the event, the Metropolitan Expo, is the largest exhibition center in Greece. Located adjacent to Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos in Spata, the facility regularly hosts large-scale international trade shows, corporate conventions and major sporting gatherings.
The arrival of HYROX in Athens follows the growth of the series across European and global fitness markets. PUMA stated that its presence at the Athens event aligns with its broader corporate strategy to engage directly with growing sports communities where athletic innovation and pioneering performance intersect.
