Afternoon rainfall in Guayaquil left wet road surfaces across major thoroughfares in the northern, central, and western sectors of the city on Wednesday, September 9.
Municipal security agency Segura EP reported that surveillance cameras identified wet roads at 2:30 p.m. local time along several primary avenues, including Avenida Carlos Julio Arosemena, Avenida Delta, Avenida Víctor Emilio Estrada, Avenida Kennedy, and Avenida Francisco de Orellana. Wet conditions were also recorded on Avenida Barcelona and at the central intersection of Avenida 9 de Octubre and Lizardo García.
The Transit and Mobility Agency (ATM), the municipal body responsible for managing road safety and traffic control in Guayaquil, later issued an update confirming wet road surfaces on the Vía Perimetral outer beltway and Avenida del Bombero.

Weather figures recorded by Segura EP for Wednesday detailed a maximum temperature of 33.5 °C and a minimum temperature of 25.5 °C. Relative humidity reached 79 percent during the day, accompanied by wind speeds of 5 meters per second and total accumulated precipitation of 4.57 millimeters.
Guayaquil is the largest city and primary commercial port in Ecuador, located along the Guayas River in the coastal Guayas province. Segura EP, formally the Municipal Public Company for Risk Management and Security, operates an integrated command and monitoring center that uses video surveillance cameras to track traffic movement, weather conditions, and urban hazards across the municipality's major transportation corridors.

The official update also incorporated maritime predictions provided by the Oceanographic and Antarctic Institute of the Ecuadorian Navy (Inocar), the national agency responsible for coastal hydrography and ocean research. High tide at the port of Guayaquil was scheduled for 6:04 p.m., with water levels reaching a peak height of 4.17 meters.
Isolated drizzle remained in the meteorological forecast for Guayaquil through Wednesday night, as monitoring agencies continued tracking weather patterns following the afternoon rainfall.
