A former elementary school teacher in Wisconsin, Abigail Faust, 25, pleaded guilty on Monday, September 14, to molesting a 15-year-old boy she had cared for as a nanny in Minnesota. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Faust had seduced and raped the teenager.
Faust had worked as the boy's nanny for his family since 2021. In 2024, once the boy turned 15, she began harassing him and pressured him into a sexual relationship, the newspaper reported.
A Job at a Wisconsin Elementary School
A year before the abuse of the teenager began, in 2023, Faust had taken a position teaching at an elementary school in Wisconsin. Wisconsin and Minnesota are neighboring states in the American Midwest that share a border along the Mississippi River, and elementary schools in the United States generally teach children between the ages of about five and eleven.
Investigators said that in 2024, while working at the school, Faust pressed an 11-year-old pupil against a wall in a classroom and kissed him on the lips.
Messages With a Colleague Led to Charges
The kissing incident came to light after police reviewed messages between Faust and a colleague at the same school, Madison Bergmann, who was separately prosecuted over the abuse of a child. Charges against both women followed soon afterwards.
Colleague Already Sentenced
Bergmann was sentenced to six years in prison in December 2025 after admitting to molesting the 11-year-old boy, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported. Her sentencing came months before Faust's own case was resolved.
Plea Deal and Sentencing Recommendation
Under Monday's plea agreement, the separate charge against Faust over the kiss with the 11-year-old pupil in Wisconsin was dropped. She pleaded guilty only to the charge involving the 15-year-old boy in Minnesota.
In the American justice system, a plea deal typically allows a defendant to admit guilt to one charge in return for prosecutors dropping others or recommending a specific sentence to the court. In Faust's case, prosecutors recommended three years of probation, suspended, together with ten years of supervision.
A judge is scheduled to hand down sentencing on December 8.
