Five-Star Hotels Get Cheaper for Russian Travelers

Five-star hotels in Russia have become cheaper for Russian travelers this autumn, with the average nightly rate falling 5.2 percent to 21,800 rubles, according to a study by travel service OneTwoTrip obtained by Lenta.ru.



A year earlier, the price stood at 23,000 rubles per night. Analysts also found that Russia now has more luxury hotels, with domestic destinations accounting for 34 percent of all five-star bookings this autumn.

Cheapest regions for luxury stays

The most affordable five-star accommodation this autumn can be found in central Russia, the Volga region and the southern republics. Bryansk region offers the best rates, at 5,900 rubles a night, followed by the Karachay-Cherkess Republic at 6,000 rubles, Volgograd region at 8,000 rubles, Astrakhan region at 8,500 rubles and Sverdlovsk region at 11,600 rubles.

Premium travel has also become more affordable in Smolensk region, Samara region, Bashkortostan, North Ossetia and the Altai Republic.
