Comedian Fats Timbo has revealed she has split from her husband, photographer Alan Laszczak, less than a year after their wedding. The Undateables star, 29, broke the news in an emotional Instagram video posted on Monday.
Timbo, who has achondroplasia, the most common form of short-limbed dwarfism, told her 418,000 followers it had been one of "the hardest times of her life," adding: "I never thought a year after getting married, I'd be getting a divorce." Welling up, she said: "Let me not cry on camera... I never thought I'd do this kind of video ever."
She said the split had actually happened months earlier. "It's been about four months now since we've been separated, and we have decided we are going to get a divorce," she said. "It's very amicable. I don't want to disclose the reason because I respect him."
Coping With Public Attention
Timbo said she had been trying to heal privately despite the scrutiny that came with having married so publicly. "Now that we're separated, you know, about to get a divorce, it's like everyone's asking about him, everyone's asking about how marriage life is going, and I'm here trying to focus on healing," she said.
She added: "Anyone that's going through something like this, honestly, I'm holding your hand because it's not easy. Me and him spent an incredible six years together, and I'll never forget our experience."
Reflecting on the future, she said: "One thing I've learned from this is that you could think that you're gonna be in a certain place at a certain time in life. But God has completely different plans. Moving forward, I'm gonna discover who the new Fats is." She thanked her friends, family and followers for their support through what she called a period that showed "who's there for you and who's not."
A Wedding Blending Two Cultures
Timbo and Laszczak married last August in Cornwall after six years together, in a ceremony that combined her Sierra Leonean heritage with his Polish background. Guests included Traitors star Meryl Williams.
Timbo wore two bridal gowns for the occasion. For her first look, she chose a white satin dress with Bardot sleeves and cut-out detailing on the bodice, paired with an ornate pearl necklace and a lace-trimmed veil. She later changed into a strapless lace gown with a sweeping train to party with guests.

Williams, 29, who was also born with achondroplasia, wore a lilac caped gown with a pleated skirt to the wedding. Sharing a gallery of photos on Instagram, she wrote: "BEST WEDDING EVER. It was such an honour to be part of your special day @fatstimbo & @alanlaszczak. Seeing you both so happy together was so beautiful! Forever grateful our paths crossed. Wishing you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and endless memories."
The pair also posed for a photo with disability advocate Amy Pohl, who has complex regional pain syndrome, a neurological condition that causes chronic pain.
How the Couple Met and Got Engaged
Laszczak, a photographer, did not meet Timbo through The Undateables. She has said he has cerebral palsy, and that the shared experience of disability helped them understand each other. Speaking on Loose Women last year, she said: "He's amazing, he's a gentleman. Everything I want in a man. We both have a disability so we understand each other. I love to be on camera, he loves to be behind the camera, so it works."
Timbo announced their engagement in May 2024, after Laszczak proposed during a trip to Thailand following four years together. She has described pushing him toward it after seeing a TikTok video of a beach proposal: "I told him: 'It's been four years, no ring, what's going on?' I was in a bit of a mood, I was thinking: 'You're taking me for a ride.'" She said he then suggested a walk on the beach, told her to turn around, and was on one knee when she did.
Rise to Fame on The Undateables
Timbo, who prefers the term "little person" to "dwarf," first found fame in 2018 on The Undateables, a reality series that follows single people with disabilities who sign up with a dating agency to find partners. She went on to appear on shows including Don't Look Down and worked as a commentator at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2024, Timbo said she initially turned the show down. "I didn't like the name whatsoever, that's why I declined initially. But then I thought about the bigger picture. I was very young, I was 20 and I thought I could find love," she said. "Also, the first time I ever saw a Black little person was on The Undateables and I thought: 'What if I do that for other people?' So, I changed my mind and I messaged them."
She added: "It was a great experience to be honest with you. Although a lot of people say 'you're not undateable' and I know it! But I'm glad I went on there and showed people my personality and that's where I started my journey. I'm proud to say I did."
Timbo has since built a following of 2.9 million on TikTok and more than 300,000 on Instagram, known for comic skits that often poke fun at herself. Laszczak is also active on social media, where he documents his fitness journey as someone living with cerebral palsy.
