‘Shazam!’ premiered in 2018 bringing a breath of fresh air to the DC Universe. While not a blockbuster, the film was warmly received for bringing lightness, good humor, and a more familiar tone to DC. Most agreed to applaud the casting of Zachary Levi as Shazam, and the actor once again steps into the shoes of the jovial superhero in the sequel “Shazam!” Wrath of the Gods, which will initially hit theaters in March 2023. Of course, There is so much chaos at DC right now, that uncertainty about the future of its current heroes is growing.

The new leadership of DC Studios, formed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, is making drastic changes as part of a plan that aims to unify the DC Universe in Marvel style, and it seems that the intention is to leave behind the Snyder regime and his Justice League. While Shazam doesn’t officially belong to this iconic supergroup, he is associated with the stage Gunn and Safran want to break with, hence the existence of the rumors about a possible replacement of Levi with another actor for the next phase of the DC Universe.
Given the speculation, the actor wanted to speak on social networks, and he did apparently denying the rumor with a reassuring message to his fans on Twitter. Levi retweeted a user who echoed the rumor, lamenting Levi’s possible departure from DC, adding: “Oooh, I wouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet. I’m fine, Ash. We’re all fine.” [Levi usa el término coloquial ‘Gucci’, que vendría a ser una manera informal -y muy Shazam- de decir ‘good’].
Oooh, I really wouldn’t believe everything you see on the internet. I’m Gucci, Ash. We are all Gucci. ? https://t.co/684SarbP1P

From the words of the interpreter it could be concluded that, for now, his character and the Shazam family are safe, but for now We don’t know Gunn and Safran’s exact plans, so we can’t take anything for granted.. After all, we were also sure that Henry Cavill would return as Superman, and those dreams have already been dashed.
Goodbye to the Snyderverse
Following DC’s controversial structuring under the leadership of Gunn and Safran, the sieve has been brutal. As mentioned, Cavill announced that he was no longer Superman, shortly after confirming that he would return, following his cameo in “Black Adam”; “Wonder Woman 3” has been canceled and Gal Gadot’s future in the saga is unknown; Dwayne Johnson has announced that there will be no “Black Adam 2”; and Jason Momoa is said to be stepping down from Aquaman after the sequel. Not to mention ‘The Flash’, which will almost certainly no longer have Ezra Miller after his constant controversy. And if the intentions weren’t clear enough, the cameos from Wonder Woman and Superman, which would have been filmed for its sequel, would have been cut.
currently, ‘Shazam! The Fury of the Gods’, directed once again by David F. Sandberg, will hit theaters on March 17, 2023. It remains to be seen what happens next.
