Tenoch Huerta thinks Namor would beat Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in one fight

Throughout Marvel and DC history, there have been many characters who look suspiciously alike and who have made no effort to hide their cheeky counterparts, Deadpool and Deathstroke, Thanos and Darkseid, and, of course, Namor and Aquaman. However, with ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ in theatres, Tenoch Huerta says he is flattered by the comparisons to Jason Momoa.

In an interview for Rolling Stone magazine (via ComicBook), Tenoch Huerta said he felt it “flattered” for comparisons with Jason Momoa. Furthermore, he took the opportunity to clarify the details about his bulge in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, which denied that Marvel had applied special effects to reduce it, and simply accepted that it really was.

[Estoy] honored to be compared to that boy. He’s a wonderful actor, a wonderful human being. He’s a Hollywood movie star and they’re comparing me to him,” Tenoch Huerta said.

in speech, Tenoch Huerta explained that Namor and Aquaman are not the same: “They are totally different. It’s like trying to compare Shazam and Superman, or, I don’t know, Thanos and some other villain just because they’re bad. […] they are two superheroes, they come from the water, and that’s it. One is Mayan, Mesoamerican, and the other is Atlantean, from a Greek myth, but they are different cultures, different origins… Also different powers”.

But the ‘Black Panther 2’ star really thought and laughed when asked if Namor could best Aquaman in a fight, and Tenoch Huerta simply answered with a resounding “yes”. But while Disney and Marvel’s efforts to bring him to the big screen have been successful, the deal with Universal for the rights to the character meant a couple of things needed to be changed.

Will there be a Tenoch Orchard solo movie as Namor?

Recently, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore revealed that agreements with Universal to use Namor in advertising campaigns for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ allowed the character to appear, but never as the lead. That’s why this contract between the companies prevents there from being a solo film by Tenoch Huerta as the king of Atlantis.

“Honestly, it strikes us more, and not talking too much outside of school, but how we market the film versus how we use it in the film,” said Moore. “There really weren’t things we couldn’t do character-wise for him, which is good because, clearly, we took a lot of inspiration from the source material, but we also made some big changes to really anchor him in that world. ”

As for a fight between Namor and Aquaman, it would be interesting to see it happen, now that James Gunn has shown intent on doing a crossover between Marvel and DC, but to see it happen could take many years, agreements between companies and that their universes allow fans to see the multiverse bigger on the big screen.
