The most acclaimed and top rated films at the end of 2022

After a couple of years where theatrical releases around the world had to stop, the entertainment industry was on hiatus until further notice. In this 2022 things have begun to return to normal and, with it, the big releases which for various reasons have been delayed. Now let’s look at the most acclaimed and top rated movies of 2022.

It must be said that the top rated movies of 2022 that appear in the list, are based on the scores that the site IGN had, where many of the critics and ratings of the year’s big releases were collected. And while one of them isn’t reaching everyone just yet, it’s worth keeping in mind when it becomes available in all territories.

The whale

Just what we’re talking about, and which is yet to come out next December in the rest of the world, is ‘The whale’, an acclaimed film drama directed by Darren Aronofksy and starring Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink. Both invent a story about the relationship of a father who wants to have his daughter back, applauded for several minutes at the Venice Film Festival. Grade 9.

white noise

Director Noah Baumbach, responsible for ‘Marriage Story’ is back this 2022 to present one of the the most acclaimed films of the year, ‘White noise’. It’s a dark comedy starring Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver, Raffey Cassidy, Don Cheadle and others, about a college professor who, along with his family, is forced to evacuate when a chemical leak causes a toxic event in the air. Grade 9.

the worst person in the world

Although its original release was in 2021, this year ‘The Worst Person in the World’, a romantic drama directed by Joachim Trier, starring Renate Reinsve opposite Anders Danielsen Lie, hit theaters worldwide. It is about a girl and her four years of her life in which she has to decide between her love life and her professional career. Rating 9. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Batman

For many, not only the best story of the Dark Knight that has ever been put on the screen, but also one of the best films of 2022. It is ‘The Batman’, directed by Matt Reeves, and starring Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell, Paul Dani and Zoë Kravitz, who bring to life a story in which the defender of the gothic has barely been a hero of the city for a few years, and now faces one of the greatest villains in its history. All everywhere at the same time

And finally, a production that few saw coming, a story difficult to categorize into a single genre, and for many the true masterpiece of 2022, is ‘Everything Everywhere at the Same Time’, directed by Daniel Kwan and Dan Schenert. Michelle Yeoh plays a laundry worker who is recruited for her skills in saving the multiverse from a strange threat. Available on YouTube and Amazon PrimeVideo. Vote 10.
