No one would think that this would become a must-see movie, but here’s how it happened: James Cameron’s “Titanic” is probably one of the movies that everyone has seen at least once in their life, and although it is a blockbuster, it may not be as we know him and not even his male protagonist, Leonardo Dicapriomay be in it. The director revealed that some conflicts were about to leave him out.
James Cameron Confessed Leonardo DiCaprio Could Have Been Left Out of ‘Titanic’; in interview for GQthe director pointed out that the actor almost lost his iconic and unforgettable role of Jack, due to a bad impression he made on him on a couple of occasions, although he was initially impressed by his talent, he also felt who had a “negative” energy, but then transformed.
While we couldn’t imagine ‘Titanic’ without Leonardo DiCaprio or Kate Winslet starring, the bad impression that his attitude and his energy created in Cameron, could have changed the whole fate and predictions of the film. The director said that everyone has always loved the actor, especially for the chemistry he felt he had with the actress who plays Rose.
“I didn’t know how I would feel. (Leo) He came in, he thought it was another meeting to meet Kate. And I said ‘alright, so we’ll go in the next room and do it, we’ll write a few lines and record them.'” And he said, ‘You mean I’m reading?’ And he was like, ‘Oh, I don’t read,’ and I said okay, shook his hand and said ‘well, thanks for coming,'” James said.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s “negative” energy was diluted by chemistry with Kate Winslet
Cameron pointed out that Leonardo had come in and shocked everyone, he too was blown away, but he needed to see what the chemistry with Kate would be like. After what happened, he believed that DiCaprio’s energy was “negative”, but he quickly transformed during the test scene with Kate, and conquered both her and Winslet’s minds, everything was done.
“So he comes in and says… Every ounce of his entire being is so negative. Until I said ‘Action’, and then it became Jack. And Kate just lit up, and they went right into all of this and touched the scene… The dark clouds had parted and a ray of sunshine came down and lit Jack up. I’m like, ‘okay, he’s the guy,’” he continued.

After passing the test and improving his attitude and showing his talent, Leonardo DiCaprio has managed to keep the role of Jack, a character that has been immortalized in his film career. Released in 1998, ‘titanic’ was considered, for years, the highest-grossing film in the history of the film industry, the same one with which the actor surprised audiences and boosted his career to get where he enjoys today.
“Titanic” raised $2,201,657,264 USD who kept it through 2009 as the highest grosser, until the premiere of “Avatar”, which managed to surpass it. Currently, it ranks third on the list of highest-grossing films in history, when it was surpassed by Marvel Studios’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019 as well.
