Rian Johnson says if his next STAR WARS idea worked better as a series, he’d be happy to do it that way

Academy Award-nominated director Rian Johnson he is best known for his small character-driven films Brick And Loopersas well as its blockbuster Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jediand his most popular film, Knives outand its expected sequel Glass onion: a knife-edged mystery. We know Johnson is working on a third Knives out movie, and maybe even more after that, but he’s also ready to make another one Star Wars project at some point, and other than expressing excitement about making it, the director has yet to say what it will be like.

In a new interview with THR, Johnson was asked if he would be willing to make a Star Wars series instead of a movie, and he said:

“I would do anything Star Wars. And if I had an idea that excited me, that worked better as a show than a movie, I’d do it that way. Right now, we’re between making the next Benoit Blanc film and thinking about Poker Face. I continue to hang out with Kathy [Kennedy] and have conversations. Who knows? Making The Last Jedi was the best experience of my life so I should be that lucky.

I know most Star Wars fans aren’t too keen on Johnson directing anything for the property, but who knows? Maybe this new project will end up being better than The Last Jedi, as it will be something he holds up on his own.
