‘Indiana Jones 5’: James Mangold Reveals Steven Spielberg Recommendations for Sequel, Releases New Images

It’s months away until ‘Indiana Jones 5’ hits theaters but the details and frames keep coming and starting to build a mental picture of the next film in the series. This time we will not have Steven Spielberg, director of the first four installments, under the direction of the project, and instead of him will be James Mangold, responsible for feature films such as ‘Logan’ or ‘Wolverine Immortal’. Mangold commented on how it feels to take on his role as director and revealed some important and sage advice Spielberg gave him. Also, Empire (via Collider) recently shared some stills from the film that show us some interesting details about the characters.

These statements were gleaned by Empire (via Screen Rant), through an interview with the director, where he revealed the advice given to him by Spielberg, an experienced filmmaker and director of great and iconic films such as ‘Jaws’, ‘ET, the Alien’ or ‘Jurassic Park’, to name just a few examples. “Steven told me, ‘It’s a movie that’s a trailer from start to finish, it’s always moving.'” Mangold explained.

As Spielberg well suggests and explains through his advice, The key to the success of the ‘Indiana Jones’ films is to create a constant feeling of movement and momentum, resulting in a feature film worthy of being placed in the action-adventure genre. Furthermore, another of the keys to this saga, and to what Spielberg defines his films as trailers, is the mystery. With mystery it’s easier to keep the audience constantly on their toes, and when you mix that with action, you get a story that keeps growing and moving, a movie that keeps pushing itself.

What do these images show us?

The images shared by Empire, which we have distributed in this article, reveal several interesting details. First, it shows us the new characters and their cast, such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena and Boyd Holbrook as Klaber. And, of course, these photographs also give us a glimpse of our beloved Indiana Jones, the usual Harrison Ford, the actor who will take up his whip for the last time to go on an adventure in this saga.

These photographs show us sequences where you can sense the action, such as the image of Ford running through the streets in a suit and tie, and the mystery, the perfect example of which is the last photo, where we see Jones meeting a suspicious man in uniform, who happens to be your enemy. The images anticipate a small part of the new film in the saga, ‘Indiana Jones 5’, which will be released in theaters next July, in 2023.
