Anya Taylor-Joy talks getting dirty and bleeding in FUriosa and driving tanks without a license

I’m excited to see Anya Taylor-Joy in action in the director George Miller’S Mad Max: Furious! I have no doubt she will be amazing in the role of her, and in a recent interview with IndieWire, she spoke a bit about her time making the film and how proud she is of it, saying:

“I have been on another planet for the past seven months. I think I need to sit down and try to digest what’s been going on over the past seven months. But I’m incredibly, incredibly proud of it, and so proud of all the people I’ve gotten to work with, and just the amount of love and effort and work that’s gone into, I’m excited to see that.

We are all excited to see him too! After what Miller delivered Mad Max: Fury Road, I’m so ready to come back to this world after all these years and experience a new crazy story! Taylor-Joy has made a lot of great movies in her career thus far, but when it comes to Furiosa, it’s definitely the grittiest project she’s been a part of. She explains:

“It’s the dirtiest, bloodiest thing I’ve ever seen, which is to say something, really say something. Whenever I manage to be dirty or bloody and not perfectly groomed and pretty, I’m just having fun, that’s where I feel most comfortable. So yeah, “Furiosa” was definitely up my street.

It looks like she had a blast making this movie, and it doesn’t hurt that she got to drive in a fast and furious style with the custom built war rigs! Oh yeah, and she doesn’t even have a driver’s license yet. She said:

“Actually, I don’t have a driver’s license, so I can’t drive. I can’t on the highway, I can’t parallel park, but if you need me to do a juicy 180 in a truck, I can do it and not hit the camera people, which is great. Eventually, I’ll stay in one place long enough to get my driving license and then I’ll be really happy, because then I’ll be able to play. But in terms of early cars, I think I’m pretty spoiled that they were built by the “Mad Max” art department.

Looks like he’s getting the best driving experience and lessons ever! She continued joking:

“That’s the other thing, if a driving instructor gets in the car with me, all I know how to do is crazy stunt driving. I’m thinking about getting my stunt certificate… so I can do all my driving in all the movies, which would be great. But I fear for the poor man or woman who is testing with me, because nice, I’m not.

Good for her! It’s so cool! In the film, “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large Biker Horde led by Warlord Dementus. Traversing the Wasteland they come upon the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe As the two Tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she musters the means to find her way home.”

Miller previously spoke about the film, saying, “I’ll tell you how it’s going when it’s done, but it’s off to a great start. All I can say about my excitement to make it is that it’s definitely exciting, because even though it’s certainly about that world of Road of Fury, it also has many of the differences we talked about. Again, it’s remarkably familiar. And probably the biggest difference is the time frame. Road of Fury it happened over the span of three days and two nights and this happened over the span of 15 years. So, it’s a saga.”

Speaking of Furiosa, Miller hinted that the backstory is one he would like to explore: “Yeah, she’s quite a compelling character so it would be great to tell her story. Her backstory is really interesting. We only allude to that in this movie because this movie is on the run; people don’t have much time for recreational chat. lots of icebergs under the tip, i like to say. One of the things that’s really gratifying, people read the movie more than just the surface – the events of the movie, and they just collect a lot of stuff underneath it, which is very deliberate… So, in many ways, audiences are learning a lot about Furiosa – or enough to be intrigued. And she has an interesting story.”

The film recently finished production. The film is expected to hit theaters on May 24, 2024. A few set photos had previously surfaced offering a glimpse of the main characters. The film is also the protagonist Chris Hemsworth And Tom Burke.
