Jason David Frank, the legendary green Power Ranger has died at the age of 49

Firstly, various media reported the death of Jason David Frank this Sunday November 20, although there has been no official statement. Now the delicate death of the actor who brought Tommy Oliver to life in various installments of The Power Rangers has been confirmed, he has died at the age of 49.

Through his Instagram account, Walter Jones, who was the actor’s partner in the series bringing to life the Black Ranger, confirmed the death of Jason David Frank, the Green Power Ranger. In addition to his role in the super sentai series, Frank had also devoted much of his career to “Legend of the White Dragon”, yet many of his fans will always recognize him as Tommy Oliver.

It was around the year 1993 when Jason David Frank made his debut in ‘Powerful Morphin Power Rangers’ as Tommy Oliver, during the Green With Evil saga, a five-episode special in which he appeared as the villain of the plot and one of the most iconic characters in the series. Later, Frank would redeem himself and also adopt special clothes such as white, the leader’s red, black and finally a green and white one.

Following a series of rumors, TMZ reported it Jason David Frank passed away on November 19 at the age of 49. “Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrific time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” one of the actor’s reps told the outlet. “He loved his family, his friends and his fans very much. We will really miss him.”

Before the news, Walter Emmanuel Jones, co-star of the series, expressed his pain on social media for the loss of Jason David Frank: “I can’t believe it. My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family,” she said. Blake Foster, of ‘Power Rangers Turbo’ (available on Star+), added: “I cried all night. Heartbroken once again I have lost my hero, our leader, my friend and an icon.”

Over the course of several seasons of the series, Jason David Frank became the Green Ranger, then the White Ranger, then the Red Zeo Ranger, and finally the Red Turbo Ranger. After taking a break, he returned years later as the Red Zeo Ranger and said goodbye to his role as Lord Drakkon in ‘Power Rangers HyperForce’.

This year 2022, the “Power Rangers” franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary and closed with the unfortunate news of the death of one of its greatest figures, along with Thuy Trang, the yellow ranger, Machiko Soga who gave life to Rita Repulsa, Richard Genelle, Mauricio Mendoza, Allissa Ann Bigelow and other names in the saga who lost their lives.
