INDIANA JONES 5 Story Details and Photos Offer First Look at Nazi Villains Mads Mikkelsen and Boyd Holbrook

We have a couple of new photos to share with you Indiana Jones 5! These images offer a first look at two of the film’s villains played by Mads Mikkelsen And Boyd Holbrook, who are Nazis. That’s right, Indiana Jones will face the Nazis once again!

Empire offers our first details on the history of the film it sees Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones in 1969, “who lives against the backdrop of the space race, but America’s effort to beat the Russians to the moon carries some uncomfortable truths for Indy.”

Indiana Jones 5 co-writer Jez Butterworth offers some additional insight by saying:

“The simple fact is that the moon landing program was run by a group of ex-Nazis. How “ex” they are is the question. And it makes Indy turn up his nose…” Casting Indiana – a man always looking for the secrets of the Earth rather than the stars – in the age of the astronaut finds him even more a man out of time. “It’s not just that the model of what a hero is has completely changed. It’s not just that they’re looking for something where there’s nothing up there – it’s like Reno without the gambling, or whatever his line is. But the people behind it are, you know, his sworn enemies.

I honestly didn’t expect to see Indiana take on the Nazis again, especially in 1969, but here we are and I’m up for an adventure! It will be great to see Indian Jones punch them in the face again.

Mads Mikkelsen plays the story’s villainous character Voller, who is “inspired in part by real-life Nazi-turned-NASA engineer Wernher von Braun.” Mikkelsen spoke about his character saying:

“He is a man who would like to correct some of the mistakes of the past. There is something that could make the world a much better place to live. He’d like to get his hands on it. Even Indiana Jones wants to get his hands on it. And so, we have a story.

The film’s story is said to mix “fact, fiction, fedoras and fascists – including a major action scene set at the Apollo 11 ticker tape parade in New York, launched to celebrate the astronauts on August 13 1969”. The photo below shows a sequence that features Boyd Holbrook as Klaber, “a Mads dog, and a madman too,” caught in the middle of the celebration.

The James Mangold direct and Steven Spielberg the produced film will be released on June 30, 2023. You can check out a couple of previously released covers here and some photos of Indiana here.
