It seems that the new chapter of ‘Alien’ is starting to take shape, and there is already talk of the possible protagonist of the film. According to Deadline, Sources point to Cailee Spaeny as a possible candidate to star in the feature directed by Uruguayan director Fede Álvarez.

The production of ‘Alien’ was reportedly done by 20th Century Studios and Scott Free, the producer of brothers Ridley and Tony Scott. As we well know, Ridley Scott is the creator of the ‘Alien’ saga, so it is very likely that he will have a direct role in the film, although the director hasn’t confirmed anything. Furthermore, regarding the choice of Spaeny as the protagonist, 20th Century has not ruled on the matter and there is nothing confirmed by the production house.

The choice of this actress as the protagonist would have arisen after several meetings between the production team and the director of the feature film. The actress will play Priscilla Presley in the new Sofia Coppola, ‘Priscilla’, in response to the success of the recent ‘Elvis’. Spaeny has worked on projects such as “Bad Times at El Royale”, “Mare of Easttown” or “Youth and Witches”, among her most recent titles.

An ever expanding franchise

At the moment there isn’t much information about the new chapter in the successful ‘Alien’ saga, beyond the choice of possible protagonist and director. But it is expected that we will see the iconic xenomorphs again. Apparently, the studio would have accelerated the project after hearing the proposal and receiving the script from Álvarez. With all of this, it looks like the film is starting, and according to Deadline, It could start filming in early 2023, so we will continue to receive news and confirmations.

In parallel, 20th Century Fox is also working on a television series set in the ‘Alien’ universe, produced by Ridley Scott and Noah Hawley (‘Legion’, ‘Fargo’), with which the saga will continue to expand in several after the six episodes of films that compose it to date between ‘Alien’ and ‘Prometheus’.
