According to a report by What’s On Netflix, Oscar-nominated director Greta Gervig (Little Women, Lady Bird, Barbie) is currently in talks to direct CS Lewis’ upcoming live-action film adaptations The Chronicles of Narnia for Netflix. If true, this would be Gerwig’s biggest project to date.

Gerwig is a talented director and I have enjoyed all the films she has made. I especially liked her adaptation of Little Womenand I think it’s a great choice to adapt these epic fantasy stories!

Netflix announced its plan to adapt these fantasy novels in 2018, saying, “Under the terms of a multi-year agreement between Netflix and The CS Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from the Narnia universe into series and films for its members Worldwide.All series and films produced through the deal will be Netflix productions, with Entertainment One’s (eOne) Mark Gordon alongside Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber as executive producers for the series and as producers for the features. Overall the Narnia books have sold more than 100 million copies and have been translated into more than 47 languages ​​worldwide.The deal marks the first time that the rights to all seven books in the Narnia universe have been held from the same company.
