Ke Huy Quan Says Steven Spielberg ‘Hasn’t Forgotten Me’ And Still Gets Christmas Gifts From Him After 38 Years

Steven Spielberg launch Ke Huy Quan such as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when he was only 13 years old. It was her first film and she got to act together Harrison Ford in the 1984 adventure film, and recently reunited with him! After all these years, 38 years later, Spielberg has always kept in touch with Quan. In fact, Spielberg always makes sure to send him a Christmas present every year.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Everything everywhere all at once star shared this heartwarming insight: “He gave me my first job and, so many years later, he hasn’t forgotten me. Whenever I need help, he’s always there.”

It’s so good to hear! After his stint with Indiana Jones, Spielberg cast him as Data The Goonies, which was another amazing role for him. Talking about the difference in working on those films, Quan went on to say:

“I was the only kid on ‘Indiana Jones’, so I got all the love and attention. In “The Goonies,” I was one of seven, so I was constantly fighting for attention. But it was something I was very familiar with: My parents had nine children. It was a lot of fun, especially those amazing sets. Going to work was like going to the playground.”

Being in those movies must have been a blast! He added, “Spielberg was the first person to put an Asian face on a Hollywood blockbuster. Short Round is fun, it’s brave, it saves ass at Indy. It was a rarity then. For many years after that, we’ve come full circle.

I am so happy to see Ke Huy Quan acting again. He was so good Everything everywhere all at once and has some other projects planned such as The Russo Bros.’ The Electrical state. But, with Disney+ and Lucasfilm looking for a new Indiana Jones-inspired series, I’d love to see him again as Short Round and embark on his wild archaeological adventures.
