I’m a few days late posting this, but better late than never. When I was a kid, I loved all the vacation specific viewing on basic cable channels. They included is the big pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Thanksgiving Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown ChristmasThanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade and New Year’s Rose Parade, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Christmas storyand many more, but one that still holds up, but is a little less well known is Dr. Seuss’s ghostly special Halloween is the night of the Grinch.
Here is the synopsis:
A strange wind blows in Whoville, forcing all the inhabitants to stay indoors. They know the wind means the Grinch will be in a bad mood and ready to do harm. However, the young Eukariah decides to face the Grinch.
It originally aired on October 29, 1977 and was one of my absolute favorite things to watch during the Halloween season when I was growing up. For some reason, it didn’t air every year, but my mom recorded it for me on VHS and I continued to enjoy it. Now I watch it on YouTube with my kids every year and we all love it. It has some great songs and even includes the Grinch’s beloved dog, Max!
