Netflix has released new posters and character images from the upcoming fifth season of their acclaimed drama, The crown. The new posters feature the queen, played by Imelda Stantonnext to Domenico West as Prince Charles and Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debickiseparated from the queen, standing alone with his back to the two.
The posters also feature separate photos of Debicki as Princess Diana, Jonathan Price like Prince Philip and the West like Prince Charles, among others.
The new feature of frames Khalid Abdalla such as Dodi Al-Fayed and Salim Daw like Mohammed Al-Fayed, Dodi’s father.
“In Season 5, with the new decade in its stride, the royal family faces perhaps their biggest challenge to date as audiences openly question the role of royalty in 1990s Britain. Front and center, however, is the unveiling of the so-called fairytale pairing of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Their separation, followed by a painful divorce, takes place in excruciating detail ”.
West described the scenes involving Charles and Diana as “tumultuous as it gets”, even more so in season six, streaming on Netflix next year.
Also protagonists in season 5 are Lesley Manville like Princess Margaret, Marcia Warren like the Queen Mother, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, who is now the queen consort of King Charles.
The crown is created and written by Peter Morgan. Morgan is executive producing with Suzanne Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw, Robert Fox and Jessica Hobbs.
