A very short game video for Need for speed without limits it was recently abandoned by EA and Criterion Games. Players can get a brief glimpse of how graffiti will come to life as they drive through Lakeshore. Something that makes me happy is that the team shared that effects can be turned off or even never turned on if you don’t want them to appear. I am not averse to having them, although I can see that it is something that I want to deactivate in the end.
Speaking of the art style, Darren White from Criterion Games said:
We wanted to offer an art style that was important to the gameplay, one that clearly celebrates the player’s actions, enhances the player experience and rewarded him along the way. We wanted to take players to the next level in Need for Speed Unbound with our driving visuals, which we call “Tag”.
Need for Speed Unbound’s realistic-looking world and cars really help solidify the graphics. Taking inspiration from street art and other media, we creatively subvert characters and visual effects, turning them into expressionistic illustrations of “you” and “your actions”. It is literally ‘graffiti coming to life’.
