In this special feature film to celebrate his latest adventure, Jodie Whittaker’s thirteenth doctor must fight for his very existence, against his deadliest enemies: the Daleks, the Cybermen and his archenemy, the Master.
Who is attacking a bullet train running on the edge of a distant galaxy? Why are seismologists disappearing from the 21st century Earth? Who is defacing some of the most iconic paintings in history? Why is a Dalek trying to make contact with the Doctor? And what grip does the mesmeric Rasputin have on Tsar Nicholas in Russia in 1916?
The power of the doctor sees the return of Janet Fielding And Sophie Aldred as former classmates of the classical era Tegan and Ace. Then, there is Sacha Dhawan who assumes the role of Master.
Speaking to Empire Magazine about the Doctor’s regeneration, Whittaker says his speech is “simple, epic and beautiful” and that it was filmed in one long take. I enjoyed Whittaker as the Doctor, but it will be interesting to see who is revealed as the new Time Lord.
The power of the doctor will air Sunday 23 October on BBC One.
