With 13 films in total, you probably need to know something about the history of the Halloween saga before you see it, even if you don’t need to see all the installments. The chronology itself is a bit confusing, and they are not consecutive, being made up of several timelines, a remake with a sequel directed by Rob Zombieand even a remake in which Michael Myers does not appear.

Halloween (1978) – Amazon Prime
This is the film that started the entire franchise and was born from the creative mind of the director. John Carpenter. He introduces us for the first time the fearsome killer, Michael Myers, and the character of Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtiswho would be the protagonist of several films in the saga and the most iconic of all, of course.
In it we see Michael Myers’ beginnings as a child, with a first scene that has become a classic within the genre where Michael kills his older sister. After this, Myers is taken to a psychiatric hospital, from which he ends up escaping, only to commit a series of murders in an attempt to return to his old home.
Halloween (2018) – Apple TV +
This film is directed by David Gordon Green, who also directs “Halloween: Ends”. The 2018 film is a direct sequel to the first film. That is to say that, from the first film of 1978, one must absolutely ignore all the others and move on to that of 2018, since it is a direct continuation of the first film.
Here we see how Myers spent four decades in a psychiatric institution and are about to take him to another place. During the trip, the car in which they were transporting him suffers an accident and he is released, precisely on October 31st. In addition to that, her sister Laurie spent four decades preparing for the return of the one who nearly killed her. The meeting is full of action and a lot of blood.
Halloween Kills (2021) – HBO Max
The same night we were in the previous movie, Laurie is injured after confronting Michael Myers, whom she claims she managed to kill. However, it is not so easy to kill the personification of evil. This is the continuation of 2018’s “Halloween” and it would be like a “Part Three” from the movie released in 1978.
