When Mary McFly travels into the future and sees the shark hologram, flying skateboards or video calls, what looked like technology years away from being seen in the real world, it has been carried over and what is now starting to be a new way of living life itself, it came in the form of virtual reality devices and a metaverse, which had already been seen in these science fiction films.

Ready player one

As soon as Steven Spielberg announced he would be making an adaptation of ‘Player ready one ‘, fans were enthralled to see the plethora of popular culture references and geeks in the film. However, one of the aspects that many took for granted was the virtual reality which is presented in the story, as an escape into fantastic environments, such as those seen now beyond video games. The matrix

But it is true that “Ready Player One” was born in a world where this technology was already the norm. And with the forgiveness of “Dark City” or “Ghost in the Shell”, one of the science fiction movies that featured virtual reality was ‘The matrix’, by the Wachowski sisters, with Keanu Reeves. The story of a world where reality went down the toilet, and everything is now a simulation, recalls the efforts of Mark Zuckerberg. Available on HBO Max.
