After the successful re-release in theaters of ‘Avatar’, the second part of the James Cameron saga is about to hit the screens. And now ‘Avatar: The Way to Water’ producer Jon Landau has just made major revelations about the future of the saga, revealing that the fourth Avatar movie was already in the works.
This was announced by Landau at a press conference, during the Busan International Film Festivalrevealing that much of the first act of the fourth Avatar film was practically finished and that the vast majority of the film had already been planned, all this before the second part hit theaters.
We have completed most of the first act of ‘Avatar 4’, ”Landau pointed out
according to the source Variety, Landou also highlighted the commitment made in the production of the entire ‘Avatar’ saga to offer audiences a unique film. “We needed time to be able to take it to the level we can offer to people today,” said the producer of “Titanic” and the rest of the “Avatar” films as well.
The ecological and human content behind Avatar
During the Festival press conference, Landau showed 15 minutes of footage from ‘Avatar: The Way to Water’ at an event that sold out all its tickets. In addition, the director of the entire saga, Giacomo Cameronmade a small appearance through a video where he talked about the ecological message of the second part of ‘Avatar’.
In addition to that, the producer commented that each of the next installments of “Avatar” would be responsible for introducing a new culture and that the cultures presented in the previous installments would be preserved, implying the message behind the film about the importance of cultural and identity conservation.
“With each sequel we will introduce audiences to new cultures and new biomes. We will not leave behind the cultures we have known,” Landau said.
Another issue that has been highlighted is that of inclusion, in this second part of ‘Avatar’ the protagonists are a group of refugees who have to live with people who are not, nor do they live like them. Landou stressed the social responsibility of directors to challenge people to see things differently.
Likewise, he talked about how science fiction allows the opportunity to generate metaphors of the world we live in, but without preaching it. Undoubtedly, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ will be a cinematic event, which will bring not only an innovative proposal on a technical level, but also a human and profound message.
