Nintendo recently acquired visual content company Dynamo Pictures and renamed it Nintendo Pictures. They also revealed a new logo and launched an official Japanese website.
Their plan is to produce “Nintendo IP-based visual content”. That content hasn’t been specified, but I suppose that means it will develop projects involving movies, TV, comics, and more. The website also claims that they will provide motion capture recording services, a field in which Dynamo Pictures has worked.
Dynamo Pictures has previously worked on projects such as Metroid Other M and the official Pikmin animated short films from a few years ago. They also produced CG animations for similar anime Yuri on the ice as well as movies like Earwig and the Witch.
Nintendo Pictures currently has 105 employees but plans to expand, with a recruiting campaign starting in November. It will be interesting to see what Nintendo Pictures will eventually become and do in the years to come.
