RICK AND MORTY finally takes on Cthulhu in the upcoming comic book miniseries

Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Adult Swim to bring us something new Rick and Morty comic miniseries that finally takes on Cthulhu. Rick and Morty vs Cthulhu Part 1: The Whisperer in the Dorkness will be available on December 7 and will bring together the creative team from Rick and Morty versus Dungeons and Dragons. writer Jim Zubillustrator Little Slutcolorist Leonardo Itoand letter Crank! will team up to answer questions and speculation from fans as to why Cthulhu is in all of the episode’s opening credits and most recently “Baby Cthulhu” in the credits. Zub talks about the series about him, saying:

Lovecraft horror has been around for decades because it asks such important questions as ‘Is humanity important in the face of an unknowable numb universe?’ … … Rick and Morty ask equally pertinent questions about ourselves, our existence and the idiots who create our pop culture, so I figured it was time to give the peanut butter that chocolate and give it a bite.

I had never thought about the similarities between Lovecraftian horror and Rick and Morty, but it makes some sense. Here is the official description of the miniseries:

What could be worse than an off-planet sugar deal gone wrong? Stumbling into Lovecraftian hell with the Smith family as they fight, uh, cosmic sentient color and racist fish? It can’t be right …

Welcome to the Rick Sanchez School of Really S ** t Done! And that poor bastard Jerry declares “everything smells like cinnamon and pain” in this Lovecraftian epic.

It all sounds like a match made in heaven for Rick and Morty fan. Enjoy Little’s cover and five variations of Zander cannon, Marc EllerbyZub, Julieta ColásAnd Ryan Lee.
