Some time ago the Netflix streaming service took over the rights to the short novel Mr. Harrigan’s phone (Mr. Harrigan’s phone) by acclaimed horror master Stephen King. It just recently released its first trailer and its premiere is scheduled for the Halloween season.

This adaptation is based on one of the four short stories King wrote for his book, If it bleedsreleased in 2020, which tells the story of Craig, a boy living in a small town, who befriends a lonely senior billionaire, known as Mr. Harrigan, through his love of books and reading.

Eventually the young man begins to be harassed by one of the school bullies, a situation that worsens when Harrigan suddenly dies, who is buried with his new iPhone. That said, the young man starts getting calls from the deceased character’s number, which will lead to a series of events that will begin to further complicate the plot.

The relationship between Netflix and the master of terror

As is well known, every Stephen King book is worthy of being adapted for the screen, be it film or television, from the popular bring until the recent adjustment of Element and its first episode a couple of decades ago. So that Netflix he knows very well that this is a safe bet, and that he will have fans and non-fans of the writer, waiting for his next premiere on October 5th, just in time for Halloween.

Likewise, it should be remembered that the iconic author is not always satisfied with the adaptations of his novels due to the changes they make to the original work, as is the case with the acclaimed The brilliantto which the writer has never hesitated to inveigh his hatred for the adaptation that Stanely Kubrick made of his novel.

However, King stated on his official Twitter account that he has already seen a near-finished cut of Mr. Harrigan’s Phone and that he considered nothing less than genius, so everything looks fine for this next version of the platform.

The aforementioned relationship between Netflix and Spephen King has been going on for several years, in the social networks the author never misses an opportunity to publicly speak and show his love for the films and series on the platform, both by those most followed such as Stranger Things , to the less known as Kleo or The Devil in Ohio. A relationship to sustain with the premiere of Mr. Harrigan’s phone.

Mr. Harrigan’s phone is played by Jaeden Martell, Donald Sutherland, Joe Tippett, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Cyrus Arnold and Colin O’Brien. It will be produced by Ryan Murphy alongside Blumhouse and its premiere is scheduled for October 5th on Netflix.
