Quentin Tarantino claims RESERVOIR DOGS co-star Lawrence Tierney was a “fucking crazy” and got into a fight with him

Quentin TarantinoThe first feature film was the 1992 crime film Hyenas. This movie is damn great! I remember when I first saw that movie, I had never seen anything like it before. The way it was written and the way the snappy dialogue was delivered by the actors was really damn fun!

Well, it turns out that the first week of shooting Hyenas it was extremely hard for Tarantino due to one of the co-stars, Lawrence Tierney, who played Joe Cabot. He was the guy who brought the crew together.

Things were so heated during that week that it actually led to a fist fight between Tierney and Tarantino! In an interview with The Guardian, Tarantino recalled the experience saying:

“Tierney was a complete madman at the time – he just needed to be sedated. We had decided to shoot his scenes first, so my first week of directing was talking to this fucking madman.

“He personally defied every aspect of making a movie. By the end of the week everyone on set hated Tierney – it wasn’t just me. And in the last 20 minutes of the first week we had a break out and got into a fist fight, it wasn’t just me. fired and the entire crew burst into applause.

“And I thought: OK, now I’m fired. That’s it; this is my chance to be a director, gone, after a week.”

In the end, he wasn’t fired thanks to the legendary actor Harvey Keitel. He stepped in to smooth things out with the studio. Tarantino went on to finish his fantastic first feature film.

I should also note that during the production of the film Tierney shot his drunk grandson in his Hollywood apartment and was arrested. He was released from prison for a day to continue filming,
