Sucker For Love: First date is a lovecraftian horror dating simulation. Don’t stop reading yet, because the game turned out to be truly amazing. Creative writing, incredible vocal work, and humor have made the game one of my favorite games.
Now Akabaka has announced the sequel, Sucker For Love: Date to Die For which will be released later this year. We get a new protagonist, a new abominable love interest, new rituals and new ways of dying and being heartbroken.
This is inspired by Shadow over Innsmouth And Dunwich Horror and features an entire city of demi-humans coming to get your Necronomicon. From what I can tell in the trailer, the cosmic horrors introduced are Muu (who fans may remember as the one who wrote the necronomicon in the first game) the Shoggoth and Rhok’zan aka Shub-Niggurath the black goat.
My knowledge of Lovecraft doesn’t extend enough to humans to immediately recognize who the semi-human characters are based on, but it should be fun to find out as more information about the game emerges. I’m deeply saddened to see that it looks like Ln’eta won’t be joining us, but we only have a teaser trailer, so maybe she’ll be making an appearance after all. The vocal work was so perfect for the first game that I’m really excited to have some trailers in the future that will let us hear the characters.
Also, the music in this trailer is incredible. I love the cheerful sounding singing with the dark and creepy lyrics, just perfection. Check out the trailer below and if you haven’t played the first foul, you won’t regret it.
