Several new photos have been released for the next Hulu movie Hellraiser film that gives us our first real look at what’s in store for the film. These photos are present Jamie Clayton as Pinhead, a creepy-looking cenobite, and Odessa A’zion as the protagonist of the film.
In Hellraiser“A young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that her purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.”
We also have more details to share about the film, which come from the director David Brucknerscreenwriters Ben Collins And Luca Piotrowskiwriter and producer David S. Goyerand manufacturer Keith Levine. During an interview with EW, the director makes sure to point out that this is not a remake:
“This isn’t a remake. I just didn’t think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser. It’s too much of a thing in itself and would, I think, be dangerous territory for filmmakers, because how do you get over it? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe.”
Speaking of the story, Bruckner says, “It’s the story of a young woman, who is struggling with addiction and compulsive behavior, who accidentally comes into contact with the box and sadly starts dabbling with it. And chaos ensues.” A big chunk of that chaos will come from the Cenobite leader Pinhead, and speaking of this new version of the infernal character, he went on to say:
“We felt a kind of anticipation around the fans to reimagine the character. We knew we wanted Pinhead to be a woman. Jamie was just the right person for the role. A person’s identity can be really exciting for a role in many ways. but I must point out that Jamie absolutely killed, that’s how we got there.
Speaking of Doug Bradley’s version of Pinhead, the director said:
“What Doug Bradley did with the character is so iconic. We didn’t want to make a Doug Bradley impression, we just didn’t think it was possible to do it. There want you will suffer, but you will have an idea of what Pinhead’s wishes might be in a little different way. “
As for the new Cenobite, it is explained that it is called “The Masque” and that “it is one of my favorite Cenobites and is just a mockery of what will happen with regard to the Cenobites”. There will be other Cenobites introduced in the film.

When discussing Clive Barkerof involvement in the film, Brukner said, “Clive was very involved. Clive came before the shoot, when we were in preparation, and he was really a wonderful asset to me. He was really generous with his time and very welcoming of the film. ‘idea that this was a new group of artists, and that they would run with this and land in different places with it. He was very supportive of that. “
The director also hopes he can continue to star in the world of Hellraiser in a series of sequels, saying, “If the fans and gods of the film allowed it, I’d love that idea. Hellraiser it’s a unique challenge, I think, for a bunch of filmmakers because, you know, it might be a guy in a mask, but he’s not, they’re interdimensional demons shooting chains at you from an endless maze. It is complicated and not only conceptually but also logistically. I feel like speaking on behalf of our entire team, the sound effects, the visual effects, the production design, we’ve learned a lot about that. It is tempting to think that we would have an extraordinary grip on it going forward, if there was an energy and an appetite for it. “
The ensemble cast includes Odessa A’zion (Fam, Great Army), Jamie Clayton (Sense8), Adam Faison (Everything will be OK), He drew Starkey (External Banks), Brandon Flynn (Ratched, 13 reasons why), Hinds Aoife (The long call, normal people), Jason Liles (Stereoscope, Rampage), Yinka Olorunnife (T.he Conveyor), Selina Lo (Boss level), Zechariah Hing (Alone), Clarke Kit (Leonardo), with Goran Visnjic (The boys) And Hiam Abbass (Succession, Blade Runner 2049).
Hellraiser will debut in the US exclusively on Hulu on October 7th. I really hope this ends up being a good movie!
