Captain wonder writers and directors Anna Boden And Ryan Fleck they will write, direct and produce a new film project entitled Quirky tales for eOne and Macro.
The film is said to consist of four interconnected stories set in 1987 in Oakland, California. The film is “a love letter to the music, movies, sports, politics, people, places and memories – some real, some invented – with which Fleck grew up in the 1980s. On the surface, every story seems to exist in a world familiar to ours, but that of Oakland Quirky tales it just hovers beyond our knowable universe. Sure you can reach out and touch it, but it will be very sticky.
It sure looks like it could be a fun and interesting movie! I really like this concept and am curious to see what exactly it becomes. There is a lot of potential here.
It was also revealed that the script is “built around his music, which was an important part of Oakland in the 1980s and that it was important to involve him in some way in the project.”
The film is produced by the Oakland hip-hop legend Todd Shaw aka Too $ hort and his manager David Weintraub. The film will also be produced by Jelani eOne, Johnson And Poppy Hanks.
