Billy Zane is collaborating with rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer Quavo for a new action thriller film in which they will star Detect.
Zane will play Gamal Akopyan, “the leader of an international robbery ring that uses street acquisitions to get away with mass robberies. When his latest heist goes awry, he must do whatever it takes to escape the nine-figure Atlanta takeover scene alive.
It is explained that road acquisitions are “a US phenomenon in which motorists arrive at a particular location in a coordinated way similar to flash mobs, block roads with their vehicles, and stunt their cars. Criminals often use this time to conduct robberies ”.
Sounds like an interesting concept for a movie. The story is set in Atlanta, where filming is currently underway. Atlanta is a hotbed of street car acquisition culture. The film aims to “highlight the fascination and controversy surrounding the acquisitions, also known as ‘side shows’. These will be brought to life using Trioscope’s proprietary technology that blends live-action and CG performances. “
Detect was written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) and is directed by Greg Jonkajtyswhich he previously directed The Liberator.
