Danny De Vito is part of the troupe of Hollywood actors who have worked on one of several Batman films of the last decades. He played The Penguin in the director Tim Burton1992 film, Batman returnsand with the role that will be recast this year The Batman as a writer and director Matt ReevesVanity Fair decided to link DeVito to a lie detector test to see what he thought.
Asked about his thoughts on the actor Colin Farrell’s portrait of The Penguin, DeVito said:
“I love Colin. He is a great guy. My penguin was better. “
DeVito then looked at the polygraph examiner and asked, “Was that the truth? Surely it was. In my opinion.”
Both actors portrayed the Gotham villain in distinctly different contexts, with DeVito embodying Tim Burton’s gothic camp style and Farrell seriously playing the moody noir brought to the screen by Reeves. In my opinion, they were both great. I remember DeVito saying he’d be back in the role if Reeves asked him during filming, so maybe he’s just a little annoyed to see someone else play the part he’d only seen him play.
Do you think one of these actors did a better job playing the Penguin?
