One of the magic of cinema is when directors let their actors and actresses embrace the character they play, even when there are some things that weren’t originally in the script. That’s when some of the best classic movie scenes take place, and some of them are totally improvised.

titanic

One of the highest-grossing films of the time, and also one of the most Oscar-winning films, is “titanic’, James Cameron classic. There comes a time when in the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio shouts at the tip of the ship: “I am the king of the world”, it was not within the script of the tape. Available on Star +.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Leonardo DiCaprio once again appears in the list, but, although many remember the sequence in ‘Django’ in which his hand is cut off, one of the the best impromptu scenes are on ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, when the actor’s character has to open the door of his Lamborghini, under the influence of drugs. Available on HBO Max.

Star Wars

Although there are many moments in the George Lucas franchise where his actors and actresses say or do things that weren’t in the script, one of the most mythical improvised scenes of ‘Star Wars’is when in episode five, Harrison Ford as Han Solo responds with “I know” to Princess Leia, when he should have said “I love you too”.

Blade Runner

One of the most important science fiction films in the history of cinema had its epic climax with Rutger Hauer’s speech in “Blade Runner”. Ridley Scott’s Roy Batty monologue, so the actor decided to improvise the lines “like tears in the rain”, and the rest became history. Available on HBO Max.

Taxi driver

Probably one of the most iconic dialogues in cinema, and also one of the most cited, is that of Robert De Niro in ‘Taxi Driver’, the classic film by Martin Scorsese with one of the most remembered improvised scenes. De Niro’s “You’re Talking To Me” moment intertwined perfectly with Travis Pickle’s madness, which remained on tape. Available on Netflix.

The Godfather

Another one of those classic films full of improvised scenes is ‘The Godfather’, Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece. But without a doubt, one of the most mythical is when Richard Catellano’s character says the phrase ‘Put the gun down, take the cannoli’, the second part being the one that wasn’t in the script.
