As we already told you on August 17th, Netflix had accidentally released unreleased content from “The Sandman” and even then people started speculating that this material could be released in the form of an extra episode. Well, they weren’t wrong: Netflix has surprisingly released a new chapter of the series, the eleventh, entitled ‘A dream of a thousand cats / Caliope’ lasting 1 hour and 4 minutes.

According to the synopsis of the episode, it is “a collection of stories in two parts, in which the paths of a Siamese cat who dreams of another world and a writer in search of inspiration intersect with Morpheus”. They are two independent stories from the original comic series and the first, ‘A Dream of a Thousand Cats’ is an animated adaptation directed by Hisko Hulsing, known for his work on the incredible ‘Undone’ on Amazon Prime Video. Calliope’s returns to live action, directed by Louise Hooper in collaboration with production designer Gary Steele from a screenplay by Catherine Smyth-McMullen.
A new rose of stars
In both parts we see Tom Sturridge again as Dream and guest voices in the animated part Sandra Oh, Rosie Day, David Gyasi, Joe Lycett, Neil Gaiman, James McAvoy, David Tennant, Georgia Tennant, Michael Sheen, Anna Lundberg , Nonso Anozie, Diane Morgan and Tom Wu. “We have endeavored to make the animated version of ‘A Dream of a Thousand Cats’ as mesmerizing and mesmerizing as possible, using the magic of real oil paintings on canvas”Hulsing says in a statement, “We have combined the paintings with classically drawn 2D animation based on lifelike 3D animation of telepathic cats to create a fantasy world that feels both real and dreamlike. “Calíope” tells the story of a muse who has a romantic relationship with Sueño. His guest cast includes Melissanthi Mahut as Calliope, Arthur Darvill, Nina Wadia, Souad Faress, Dinita Gohil, Kevin Harvey, Amita Suman and Derek Jacobi. You already have it available on Netflix.
