Lucasfilm is coming Thief One prequel series Andor It looks fantastic! The footage I’ve seen is much better than what I expected, and it actually got me excited for a show that I wasn’t initially thrilled with. Andor she already has a second season in development and production starting in November and creator and showrunner of the series Tony Gilroywho co-wrote the Thief One screenplay and was the uncredited director of the filming of the film, he recently talked about the second season in an interview with Total Film, saying it is “the second half of the novel”.

He went on to explain: “We have four blocks out of three [episodes] arriving [for season 2]. And each block will bring you one year closer Thief One. And why is it a year [each time], we can do something truly storytellingly fascinating that you would never get the chance to do in a movie. It is exciting.”

The series is the protagonist Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, and the story is set five years before the events of Thief One, and keeps track of how and why Cassian joined the rebellion as the Empire aggressively expanded its reach across the galaxy. The series is described as a “refugee story” that sees people trying to escape from a full-fledged empire. Luna previously shared: “It’s a migrant’s journey. That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very deep and very strong. This shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways and in what you are willing to do. “

Luna talked about the process of being involved in a show like this, saying, “It’s a beautiful time. We are preparing. Things are being written and questioned, they go back and forth … it’s good to experience that process from the beginning to finish, you know? “

It is explained that season 2 of the series ends where Rogue One begins, and when it comes to Cassian’s right-wing droid, the reprogrammed Imperial unit K-2SO, Luna explains, “He says a lot that his best friend [in the movie] he’s a droid, you know? Or his only friend, I should say. But on the show we will start with someone who is very different from the quiet, lonely man we meet in Rogue One. We are so far from that in this first season; there’s a whole journey to explore … “

The rest of the cast includes Stellan Skarsgard (Thor), Adria Arjona (Morbio), Fiona Shaw (Kill Eve), Denise Gough (Under the banner of the sky) And Kyle Soller (Poldark). Then, there is Forest Whitaker who will reprise the role of Saw Gerrera, Genevieve O’Reilly such as Mon Mothma, e Ben Mendelsohnwho is reportedly returning as Imperial Director Orson Krennic.

Directors include Toby Haynes (Black mirror: USS Callister), Benjamin Caron (The crown) And Susanna Bianca (Desolate house).
