‘Wednesday’: First reactions to the trailer praise Jenna Ortega

Last August 17th Netflix has released the trailer for ‘Wednesday’, the Addams Family series directed by Tim Burton and starring Jenna Ortega. This advance came just hours after the first official images of the entire family were released, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley.

‘Wednesday’: First reactions to the trailer praise Jenna Ortega

Therefore, the first reactions to the trailer, which praise Ortega’s lead role, were not long in coming. The actress is making great strides when it comes to becoming the new queen of terror and more if we consider his last two films: ‘X’ and ‘Scream’. The comments on the trailer made Ortega a trending topic, and with good reason.

“Choosing Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams was THE right move”.

“The new Wednesday Addams looks great! We continue to support Jenna Ortega”.

“Jenna Ortega’s contribution to the horror genre in 2022 alone is insane”.

“Jenna Ortega … she is an icon, she is a legend and it is time”.

“We never saw Wednesday as teenagers. It’s so funny, sweet, and almost fascinating to hear about this eight-year-old’s obsession with murder, blood and guts.. As he gets older, it’s really hard to make sure that nasty attitude or sarcastic comments don’t sound like all other teenagers. The challenge was to see how we establish this character and how we give him the same fire without making him become something he is not. Plus, it’s an eight-hour streak, so for an emotionless character, there has to be some sort of emotional arc. “explained the actress in Entertainment Weekly.

Not without controversy

However, all was not going to be rosy for the new version of “The Addams Family”. The trailer also had its share of controversy, this time over the character of Gómez, played by Luis Guzmán.. The criticism, as usual, centers on the “awakened” movement, on the inclusion (in this case) of a Latin actor and on the intention of production companies and platforms to respect a progressive agenda. However, in opposition to this trend, defenders have emerged who understand and vindicate this decision.

“Why do people complain about Luis Guzmán’s appearance when he is by far the most faithful version of Gómez Addams?”

The series, described by Netflix as “a thriller with paranormal elements” takes us back to the high school years on Wednesday and her time at Never Again Academy after being expelled from eight centers in five years.
