There is a new rumor that has emerged regarding Lucasfilm’s upcoming live-action series Star Wars: The Acolyte, and according to this rumor, a famous and powerful Sith Lord will make his big debut in the series. That Sith Lord is Darth Plagueis.
The entry was from Redditor u / Aesokas (via Bespin Bulletin). This is a popular account on Star Wars Subreddit losses. There are no confirmations of this and no details on his role in the series, but it is not certain that the character is somehow involved.
The series is described as “a mysterious thriller that will take viewers to a galaxy of dark secrets and dark side powers emerging in the last days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 200 years before the start of the Skywalker Saga. So far this era has only been explored in a series of books and comics. It is the golden age of the Jedi, when the Jedi were strongest and it was believed that the Sith had been eradicated from the galaxy.
It was also previously explained that the show “specifically explores the rise of the Dark Side in those last days of the High Republic era. The Acolyte has the opportunity to explore the dark side in a way the franchise has never seen on screen before. “
For those of you unfamiliar with the character, Darth Plagueis was “a Force-sensitive Muun male Dark Lord of the Sith and the Sith Master of Darth Sidious. Plagueis longed for immortality, believing the secret hidden in science. To that end, he worked with his Sith apprentice, conducting research on bioengineering and experimenting with his ability to influence midi-chlorians to create life. In doing so, Plagueis gained considerable knowledge of the Force, but was eventually betrayed and killed by his own apprentice in accordance with the Rule of Two. Sidious later told the story of his master’s death to lure Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to the dark side of the Force, calling the fallen Sith Lord Darth Plagueis the Wise. After his death, Sidious used his master’s teachings to cheat death, although true immortality still eluded him until his end.
It was also previously reported that the series could explore some of the main Sith characters from Star Wars Legends! That report explained, “We’re talking about Darth Revan, folks, who I’ve heard will bring many of these legends [characters]: Darth Bane, Darth Nihilus, Darth Malak, Darth Revan, all inside [Star Wars: The Acolyte]. We will see.”
All of this is only rumored for now, but I’m very curious about this series. I hope it ends up being something amazing. The show was developed by showrunners Leslye headland (Russian doll) And Amanda Stenberg (The hate you give) is set as the protagonist.
