Initially I was not thrilled with the upcoming Star Wars series Andor. While I loved Thief OneI just didn’t care Diego Lunais Cassiano Andor. But, after seeing the trailers for the series, I’m now really excited to watch the show! The setting of the story is certainly the most interesting aspect.
The story is set five years before the events of Thief One, and keeps track of how and why Cassian joined the rebellion as the Empire aggressively expanded its reach across the galaxy. The series is described as a “refugee story” that sees people trying to escape from a full-fledged empire. Luna previously shared: “It’s a migrant’s journey. That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very deep and very strong. This shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways and in what you are willing to do. “
The 12 episode series was created by Tony Gilroywho co-wrote the Thief One script and was the uncredited director for the filming of the film. He also wrote the Bourne franchise and, in a recent interview with SFX Magazine, talked about the influence Bourne had on Andor.
“[With Bourne] I tried to get people to make an acoustic action movie, because action movies got so loud in the ’80s, they were just huge. So when Bourne came, we went all the way to nowhere.
“It was about making it real. Keeping someone you really understand and really care about in a place whose geography you understand, with stakes, is so much more engaging than a guy on a train with 15 machine guns and a helicopter coming down.
