Fans of all things Sleepy Hollow can get excited for our first look at the upcoming graphic novel Empty. The graphic novel is written by Shannon Watters (Lumberjanes) And Branden Boyer-White with art Berenice Nelle (Wanderlicht) and colors of Kaitlyn Musto (Spectrum Inspectors), Kieran Quigley (An ember in the ashes), And Gonçalo Lopes (Gamera: the comic book collection). Empty is set in the infamous town of Sleepy Hollow and tells a story of romance and queer adventure. It looks pretty funny.
Isabel “Izzy” Crane and her family have just moved to Sleepy Hollow, the city made famous and haunted by Washington Irving’s legend of the Headless Horseman. But Izzy, skeptical and city skeptic, has no time for superstition as she navigates life to a new address, a new school and, with any luck, new friends. Ghost stories aren’t real after all …
Then Izzy is drawn into the orbit of the city’s royal teenager, Vicky Van Tassel (yes, that Van Tassel) and the adorable college-level prankster Croc Byun. Vicky’s exhaustion from her family bond with the legend turns to terror when the trio begins to be haunted by the Knight himself, discovering a curse destined to destroy Van Tassel’s line. Now, they only have until Halloween night to break it, which means it’s a totally uncomfortable time for Izzy to develop a huge crush on the enigmatic Vicky.
Can Izzy’s practical nature help her deal with the unknown or just trip her up? As the calendar drops to 31st, Izzy will have to use all of her wits and work with her friends to rescue Vicky and uncover the mystery of the legendary Knight of Sleepy Hollow, before it’s too late.
you can read Empty September 28th in local comics shops or October 4th in the local bookstore. It was released by BOOM! Box and cover with cover of Noemi Franquiz.
