In 1993, 16-year-old Brandon Lee enrolled at Bearsden Academy, a secondary school in a well-groomed suburb of Glasgow. What followed became legendary over the next two years. Brandon personally studied in Canada before touring his mother, an opera diva, until her tragic death. The naturally educated student astonished professors and displayed a wealth of knowledge ahead of his time, striving to achieve his goal of entering medical school. Despite his initial awkwardness, Brandon made friends by harassing students, introducing retro bands to his classmates, and even playing at school concerts. South Pacific. The documentary is a Hopscotch Films production co-sponsored by Creative Scotland. Claire Grogan and Lulu also star. Executive producers Mark Thomas, McLeod, Archer and Clara Glynn.
The deal was negotiated by Magnolia EVP Dori Begley and SVP Acquisitions on behalf of Dogwoof’s creators, John von Teden, Cleo Weger and Anna Vicente.
In the summer of 2018, the Magnolia documentary special hit the box office RGB, The film grossed over $14 million and was nominated for an Oscar twice.
