The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was delayed. Daedalic Entertainment and NACON recently announced the upcoming prequel video game and thanked the fans for their patience and support. We don’t have a new release date, just that the release has been postponed for a few months to refine it and make sure the best experience is offered to fans at launch. The game will finally be released on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. The official statement reads:
Daedalic Entertainment and NACON would like to thank all players for their patience and support so far. Over the past few years, the team has worked hard to share our vision of an extraordinary story, set in a breathtaking world full of magic and wonder. We are dedicated to meeting the expectations of our community and discovering Gollum’s untold story in a way that honors JRR Tolkien’s vision.
That said, in order to offer the best possible experience, we have decided to bring forward the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum ™ by a few months. We will update with exact timing in the near future.
Daedalic and NACON are grateful for their passionate community and will be happy to share this unique adventure with them soon.
These ads are always bittersweet. On the one hand, the delays will hopefully mean less crunch for the developers and others who work on it and that’s something I always want to support. It also means there is less chance of fans being offered a non-playable game at launch; something that seems to be happening too these days. On the other hand, it means we have to wait, there is a greater risk that some things will be a little out of date by the time of release, and sometimes the excitement is lost.
