During the Marvel Studios panel at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige he announced it Fantastic Four will launch Phase 6 of the MCU. We don’t know anything about the film, we don’t know who will be the protagonist, but now we know it won’t be an origin story.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige shared: “Many people know this origin story. Many people know the basics. How we take this and bring something they have never seen before. We set a very high standard for us. I was bringing it to the screen. “
I totally agree with Marvel coming up with the origin story Fantastic Four. Ant man director Peyton Reed previously he had proposed to Fox an idea for a story set in the 1960s, involving the Quantum Realm and possibly The Black Knight. He explained:
“Visually, one of the things we always talked about – and it was 2003 – was the Fantastic Four as daytime superheroes. They have no secret identities. They are very much part of the fabric of Manhattan. In that universe, if you go to New York to the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty or the Baxter Building, it was part of it. We talked about it being a vintage movie from the 1960s, but Fox didn’t like it at the time. “
I love that concept and I wouldn’t like anything more than Marvel to play with elements of it, especially in a 60s setting. That would be a lot of fun! Director of Spider-Man Jon Watts he had previously been in charge of running the project, but left it in April of this year. There is no new director that has been announced.
