CW McCall Dies: #1 ‘Convoy’ Singer-Songwriter Turns 93

CW McCall is best known for his 1975 hit hit “Convoy.” He died of cancer in Orei, a colony, on Friday at the age of 93. His death was reported for the first time Washington post.

McCall, real name Bill Fries, was in the advertising industry when he created the CW character McCall for the Old Home Bread commercial in 1973. The ad won the Clio Award, and it created a new career for Fris, who took on the persona of an illegal truck driver.
