Toho and CoMix Wave recently released a new trailer for the upcoming anime film Suzume. The trailer introduces the fans Nanoka Hara who is giving voice to Suzume. The trailer gives fans a look at several characters and items that were teased via keywords in April: “Traveling Young Man”, “White Cat”, “Small Chair” and “The Key to Doors”.
Seventeen-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet Kyushu town when she meets a young man who tells her: “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing amidst the ruins as if protected from any catastrophe struck. Apparently drawn to her power, Suzume looks for the knob …
Doors begin to open one after another across Japan, wreaking havoc on anyone around. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disasters.

Within that realm, it was as if all time had merged together in the sky …
Guided by these mysterious doors, Suzume’s journey to closing the doors is about to begin.
I really love the music in this trailer which is an original song called “Suzume”. I have to put it on a playlist ASAP! The animation also looks really good and I can’t wait for it to be available. The film is written and directed by Makoto Shinkai whose previous films Your name And Getting older with you they got a lot of praise from critics and fans. Speaking of playing Suzume, Hara said:
I was so nervous. Since I could only use my voice to interpret the characters’ emotions, I had to be aware of each sentence and the meaning it was meant to carry. There were so many things I didn’t know. Seeing the image and the voice together, I finally realized that it was up to me to bring this character to life, which made me so nervous that I could barely move. However, director Shinkai would have praised my acting and guided me to the right performance every time. Recording this trailer has definitely boosted my confidence!
Fans can’t wait to watch Suzume in theaters in Japan on November 11 with Crunchyroll rolling out globally in early 2023. Are you ready to meet Suzume?
