Attention, SPOILER!
* This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of ‘Ms. Wonder’
‘SM. Marvel ‘has come to an end after six weeks on Disney +, but the story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) has only just begun. The most recent series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced us to the superheroine of Jersey City, Muslim teenager who, by the way, is a huge fan of superheroes, and more precisely of Captain Marvel.
Despite the changes made in the television adaptation to the source material, one thing that has remained intact in the series is Kamala’s adoration of Carol Danvers, her inspiration and model. A cameo of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel was always on the schedule and ultimately materialized, literally at the last moment, with a very brief appearance of Carol in the post-credits scene of the final episode. Of course, even though Carol has her cameo in ‘Ms. Marvel ‘, she technically she has not yet met Kamala, meeting that will take place in’ The Marvels’, the sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’.

As for the crossover that takes place at the end of ‘Ms. Marvel, ‘showrunner of the series, Bisha K. Ali, revealed in an interview with Variety why he decided to do it this way, without having Kamala and Carol meet in the same place. So explains the writer the process and implications of that scene in Kamala’s story:
“Very, very, very soon, [el cameo de Carol Danvers] It was part of the conversation. The deeper I went into what I wanted to tell about the series and what I wanted [Kamala] lived, I realized it had to be about her and her community, her family and her friends. So Carol will meet her after the journey she went through during the season. Now it is Kamala herself. Eventually, when she looks in the mirror, she doesn’t see an impression of Captain Marvel, like in the first episode. She sees Kamala in her dress that her mother made for her, wears the mask that Bruno made for her, wears the red dagger sash, and moments after her, her father gives her the name of she. [de superheroína]. That moment is about Kamala becoming herself in her own right.”.
“That’s why I think the story would have gone in a different direction if I had met Carol earlier, and that’s what’s going to happen in the movie that comes out next year.”Keep it up. “She’ll still be very excited and happy to meet her when she finally does. But in this journey, in this arc of characters, it was important that they did not meet”.
Ali also made it clear what exactly happens in that post-credits scene, noting that Kamala didn’t transform into Carol, but rather the two swapped places. So when Carol appears in Kamala’s room, the young Ms. Marvel ends up where the Captain was. And we’ll find out exactly where that place is and how the story continues in “The Marvels”, that will be released in theaters on July 23, 2023.
The most appreciated project of the UCM
Although the audience seemed more divided before ‘Ms. Marvel ‘, who was also one of the latest victims of Internet review bombing, the criticism has totally surrendered to Kamala Khan. The series received excellent reviews in its first few episodes, and after the sixth and last episodes have aired, that rating is maintained.
So much that ‘Ms. Marvel ‘is officially the highest-scoring project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, counting movies and series. At the time of writing, the series boasts an impressive one 98% positive reviews on RottenTomatoes (audience rating is lower, but still good: 80%). This places it above “Black Panther”, which until now held the crown of criticism of the UCM with 96%.
